WHY THAT’S BS:

What is confused is a lot of people’s understanding of sex (biology), gender (identity), and sexual orientation (broadly, whom you find attractive). But the fact is, enforcing rigid gender norms will do nothing to change whom someone is attracted to. What it might do, however, is make them feel pretty bad about themselves.

Despite the fact that various groups claim to be able to change sexual orientation and gender identity through therapy, this just isn’t possible. Adults who think taking dolls away from boys or wrestling girls into dresses will help keep them on a heterosexual path should know that groups including the American Psychological Association have come out against sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE) as not only ineffective, but also deeply harmful,11 and more and more states are banning “conversion therapy” for minors as a result.
